Oh no . . .
August 10, 2008
The husband went to pick up the boy yesterday, after a long summer away at school in Virginia. The drive was something like six hours both ways, he stayed overnight in a hotel.
I was at a concert, paid for by — who else — the husband.
It worked out well, since I used the whole thing as an excuse not to have 15 women over to play Bunco next week. The lie entailed switching the date of the trip & insinuating that I’d be traveling, too.
Way too much pressure.
Anyway, I planned on cleaning the house & fixing a meal before they arrived at our door. I have fantastic dreams & they always include me doing superhuman feats of feminine culinary artistry.
Uh-oh. I accidentally went on the computer this morning instead.
They called & have just passed the NJ borderline.
Do I shower, clean the floors or pick up a few books first?
I don’t have enough time to go out and buy any food.
Might as well turn it into a blog entry.
Typical day.

15 women coming over for bunco? What on earth were you drinking when you got talked into that? If ever there was a time to make up a lie, that is it!
Enjoy having the boy home! Don’t feel bad about not making some great meal. I stuck a candle in a Ring Ding tonight and called it my husband’s birthday cake because I forgot that I gave my mother my box of cake mix and was way too lazy to go buy anything. He’s easy. He loved it.
The Ring Ding birthday cake is fantastic. I’m assuming you placed it smack dab in the middle of your naked body? LOL

I always get suckered in to hosting things too–(specifically play groups) I hate hosting playgroups. But I’m realizing, if it wasn’t for me hosting these annoying little events now and again–my house would never get cleaned.
So .. .
I’m assuming you went out to dinner!
You are so right about getting the house cleaned! I ended up doing a “box surprise” kind of night. They were surprised. Clearly, I’m no Martha Stewart!

Order pizza, go get the books and try to talk the daughter into cleaning the floors.
So funny you said this, cause the daughter did end up cleaning the kitchen floor!

Ha ha… I have a million things to do today but I keep thinking, “Oh, I’ll just read one more blog!” I can’t help it; after a few days away there is so much catching up to do. I’m just now reading this one from two days ago. I hate falling behind.
I agree completely. It’s so hard to catch up.
